Zocalo Restaurant, located in the center of Charlottesville on the historic downtown pedestrian mall, has been one of Charlottesville’s most popular dining and nightlife spots for the past fourteen years and is a popular destination for locals and visitors alike. During the warm weather months, Zocalo’s large patio is a regional favorite where guests enjoy sipping signature cocktails such as traditional Mojitos and Les Fresa Negras as they catch up with friends or relax and watch the endless parade of people strolling the Mall.  During the colder months, guests cozy up next to our fireplace and enjoy savory entrees, rotating specials and sip our seasonal mulled spiced cider.

Zocalo has been praised by customers and food critics alike for its consistently excellent food as well as friendly, professional and engaging service. Whether you’re in the mood for an intimate dinner or a lively, energetic bar scene, Zocalo will hit the spot.

Zocalo’s original co-owners and chefs Ivan Rekosh and Andrew Silver have been friends since their first day of culinary school at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York, and have collectively cooked in San Francisco, Maui, Atlanta, and Chambery, France, before moving to Charlottesville together in 2002 to fulfill their vision of opening Zocalo Restaurant.  In September 2017, Andrew and Ivan parted ways professionally, though remain good friends.  With this change, Ivan is excited to take the restaurant forward into its next chapter and continue to be an integral part of Charlottesville’s food scene.
